Chelmer provides Opening Up services mainly to Commercial Clients, Architects and Structural Engineers who need to inspect specific construction elements of a building.

These opening up works are also instructed where buildings are being adapted and modified to assist in the structural design phase.

Examples of Opening Up services provided include:

  • Ceilings to check construction i.e. spread of joists
  • Columns
  • Corners of rooms etc. to record steel measures i.e. RSJs
  • Cavity wall inspection (further inspection also carried out using a borescope)
